Jones shines at Duke spring football showcase

DURHAM, N.C. – Quarterback Daniel Jones threw two touchdowns passes to highlight Duke’s 50-snap scrimmage on Saturday afternoon during the program’s annual Spring Showcase at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium.
Jones finished the day completing eight-of-15 passes for 83 yards with scoring strikes of 11 yards to tight end Noah Gray and eight yards to wideout T.J. Rahming. Running back Brittain Brown paced the ground attack with 16 yards on four attempts.
Defensively, linebacker Ben Humphreys was credited with one quarterback sack and one fumble recovery while linebacker Joe Giles-Harris carded one tackle for loss, one caused fumble and one pass breakup. Defensive end Victor Dimukeje added one quarterback sack.
On the special teams front, kickers AJ Reed and Collin Wareham booted field goals covering 46 and 44 yards, respectively.
The Blue Devils, who return 47 lettermen and 16 starters from last year’s squad which went 7-6 with a victory in the Quick Lane Bowl, conclude spring practice on Friday, April 20.
Duke opens the 2018 season at home against Army West Point on September 1.
