The Rocky Mount Association of Realtors has been raising money for the local Habitat for Humanity.

Market Leader Realty's Renee Silk and Ana Joyner along with Mike Allen from Boone, Hill Allen and Ricks have been diligently collecting donations and raffle items since September.

A raffle drawing was held at the recent Rocky Mount Area Association of Realtor's Installment Banquet at Benvenue Country Club, where over $1,220 was raised.

The association had already collected $2,727.00 in the past few months. The goal is to raise $5,000 by the end of the year.

Habitat for Humanity is an organization in which families in need of decent, affordable housing apply for homeownership with the local Habitat for Humanity. Each local Habitat's family selection committee selects homeowners based on their willingness to partner with Habitat and their ability to repay a mortgage through an affordable payment plan.

The Rocky Mount Association of Realtors want to help our Rocky Mount-Nashville community by helping those in need. Its current project is at 917 S. Brooklyn Ave. in Nashville and Habitat plans to have the house complete by the end of November.

The association hopes to have the key ceremony in January, when it will hand over the keys to the new house.
