Eagle Transport Corp. recently was honored with a SmartWay Excellence Award from the Environmental Protection Agency as an industry leader in freight supply chain environmental performance and energy efficiency.

“Safe and responsible transportation of chemical and petroleum products are core values at Eagle Transport,” said Eagle President and COO Lance Collette. “A sharp and consistent focus on protecting everyone’s health and our environment through company and industry initiatives has been built into the way we operate our business. There are no shortcuts. We are proud to have been chosen by SmartWay to be a part of this elite group of carriers.”

Eagle Transport was one of 40 truck carriers to receive this distinction, representing the best environmental performers of SmartWay’s 3,700 partners. The Excellence Awardees were honored on Oct.29 at the 2018 American Trucking Association Management Conference & Exhibition in Austin, Texas.

“Today, EPA is honoring top-performing SmartWay Carrier Partners with this year’s 2018 SmartWay Excellence Award for their leadership in moving more goods with less fuel,” said EPA Assistant Administrator of the Office of Air and Radiation, Bill Wehrum at the conference. “These companies inspire others in the freight sector to invest in innovative technologies and business practices that save fuel, while reducing costs and protecting the environment.”

Eagle Transport Corp. is a trucking company transporting liquid bulk petroleum, chemicals and bio-fuels. Eagle Transport began with four trucks in 1969 in Rocky Mount and has enjoyed steady growth ever since.

Today, Eagle has over 800 drivers, 500 power units and 22 terminals located throughout the Southeast United States.

Even through deregulation in 1992, Eagle has continued to grow through retention and continuing service of existing accounts, the acquisition of transport companies and the expansion into new markets.

EPA’s SmartWay Transport Partnership is a market-driven initiative that empowers businesses to move goods in the cleanest, most energy-efficient way possible while protecting public health and reducing air pollution.
