The Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Month for September is Woodard Dentistry.

The dental practice started in 1968 with Dr. Lyle Crumpler and was originally located on Foy Drive in Rocky Mount. Dr. Dan Ballance took the helm of the business in 1975 and the company continued to thrive for 37 years. Fifty years after its start, the business is now in the hands of Dr. James T. Woodard.

Woodard was welcomed to the practice in February 2012. After six successful years at the Foy Drive location, Woodard and his staff are celebrating the relocation of the practice to a new, state-of-the-art facility equipped with the latest dental technology.

The new office is located at 121 Azimuth Court in the Woodstone Office Park just off Sunset Avenue. Even with the change of location of the practice, Woodard and his staff have continued the great customer service and excellent care that their patients have come to expect over the years.

With its recent relocation, Woodard Dentistry has enlarged its space and modernized its equipment and has expanded patient services as a result. The use of technology is fueling the growth of the practice with the use of high definition intraoral cameras and digital X-ray sensors so patients are able to better understand their dental conditions.

Woodard’s patients say they appreciate the friendly-family atmosphere, the level of care provided and the professionalism of the practice. Three staff members at Woodard Dentistry have been employed by the practice for over 30 years.

Not only do they provide great service in the office, Woodard and his wife, Liz, are very active outside the office, providing community service to several local organizations and dedicating their time to making their community a better area to live. They are both active members of the First Presbyterian Church.

They are supporters of local events such as the Annual Pink Party and the Nash Health Care Foundation Gala. Dr. and Mrs. Woodard have served as members the Young Ambassadors Circle and Rocky Mount Jaycees. In addition, Dr. Woodard has also provided service throughout the state via the Missions of Mercy who provide free dental clinics for those in need.

With such a long-standing history in the community, upgrading the practice with a new facility and state-of-the-art dental equipment for dentistry as well as a continued commitment to community service to the community, it should come as no surprise that Woodard Dentistry won Small Business of the Month.

The Chamber staff, Small Business committee, Ambassadors and the community celebrated with the team at Woodard Dentistry on Sept. 24 at their location.

Anyone interested in local dental care can contact Woodard Dentistry at 252-443-1158 or visit them at their new location at 121 Azimuth Court.

Every month the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce selects a Small Business of the Month winner from their membership. The Small Business of the Month Winners are selected based on several categories after nominations are received. The selection committee evaluates items such as great customer service, community involvement, overall business growth and much more when selecting the winner of the award.
