A longtime jewelry store will be hosting a traditional spring event showcasing an assortment of vintage and antique jewelry.

Bailey’s Fine Jewelry will hold its ninth annual estate jewelry event from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at its Rocky Mount store at 117 Winstead Ave. in West End Plaza.

Audrey Humphreys, store manager of Bailey’s Fine Jewelry in Rocky Mount, said customers coming to the antique and estate show will have the opportunity to search through hundreds of antique necklaces, rings, watches, bracelets and earrings.

Humphreys said the upcoming showcase is one of Bailey’s largest events it hosts at the store during the year, which will feature two large estate companies coming from the East and West coasts bringing their own collection of estate jewelry in addition to the pieces that the store will have. Humphreys urges people to walk in the store that day to look at the special and historic jewelry, even if they aren’t coming to buy any of it.

The estate jewelry event will also feature celebrity-worn pieces. In the past, Bailey’s in Rocky Mount has showcased pieces owned by such people like famous actress Elizabeth Taylor and actor John Wayne, Humphreys said.

“This is a very exciting event that features jewelry that’s been previously owned and loved that are pieces dating back from the 1800s,” she said. “It’s just incredible craftsmanship and one-of-a-kind pieces. It’s like going to a museum and seeing those one-of-a-kind things that you won’t get the opportunity to see anywhere else. People don’t have to go to Raleigh to see it. We’re having it right here in town.”

Bailey’s Fine Jewelry will hold another estate jewelry event in Rocky Mount later in the fall. The estate jewelry event will also take place in Greenville on Friday and Raleigh on Saturday.
