A local law firm is welcoming a new lawyer.
Alex Urquhart has joined Battle, Winslow, Scott & Wiley.
"I look forward to serving Nash and Edgecombe counties and the surrounding communities," Urquhart said.
The Edgecombe County native will work primarily in the practice areas of litigation and family law while supporting the firm's other practices.
A graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, Urquhart earned a bachelor of arts in global studies and a second major in economics. He obtained his law degree from Tulane University Law School and has a certificate in environmental law.
He said he plans to grow an environmental practice at the firm.
While in law school, Urquhart participated in internships at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Northern District of Georgia, the Environmental Division of the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office, and the Pender County District Attorney’s Office. After law school, Urquhart returned to North Carolina and practiced trusts and estates law.
Urquhart is a member of the Nash, Edgecombe and Wilson Judicial District Bar and the state bar association.
