Ashley Churchill Young
Ashley Churchill Young and William Fenton Clendenin were united in holy matrimony in a 4 o’clock ceremony on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Englewood Presbyterian Church.
Pastor David Hermes officiated with Dr. Robert Westlund serving Communion.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Churchill Buck Young of Rocky Mount.
Grandparents of the bride are Mrs. Churchill B. Young of Tarboro, formerly of Rocky Mount, the late M. Neely Young and Stan and Ruth Blaylock. After the passing of her beloved husband, Ruth Blaylock became Ruth Blaylock Murrill in marriage to the now late Kinsey Murrill.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jon
Clendenin of Ashburn, Va.
Grandparents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs.
Peter Bergstrom of Leesburg, Va., and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Allen Clendenin.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
The bride wore an ivory lace and organza gown and her mother-in-laws veil that was worn in the grooms parents wedding in 1987.
Blythe Moore, sister of the bride, served as
matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Mary Barnes, Nikkoahk
Clendenin, Elice Ferrell, Beth Overman, Gabriella Tankson and Dana White.
Adam Seip, friend of the groom, served as best man.
Groomsmen were George Clendenin, Stephen Clendenin, Daniel Lee, T.J. Maistros, Jermaine Moore and Luigi Santos.
Music director was Mary Ruth Johnson who played the piano and organ, accompanied by Ann Sumner Thorp on violin. Solos were sung by
Lauren Westlund.
Wedding director was Sadie Bissette assisted by Janet Jordan.
A dinner and dancing reception immediately followed the wedding at Benvenue Country Club.
Following a wedding trip to Vermont, the couple will live in Sterling, Va.
The bride graduated from Rocky Mount Senior High School were she was a 4 year varsity tennis letter winner and a member of the National Honor Society. She then graduated summa cum laude - Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North
Carolina Greensboro with a degree in English and a concentration in HS teaching. She holds a Master of Letters with honors from Strathclyde
University Glasgow, Scotland. She is employed with Grace Covenant Church in Sterling, Va., and SpiderSmart Learning Center in Ashburn, Va., as Assistant Director and Lead Teacher.
The groom graduated from George Mason
University, Fairfax, Va., where he was a varsity swimmer, with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Accounting. He is employed in the Northern
Virginia office of Wal-Mart Corporation in accounts receivable.
On March 27, 2017, an engagement party was hosted in Sterling, Va.
August 2017, a bachelorette party and bridal shower was hosted by the bride in Washington, D.C. and Sterling, Va.
September 2017, the groom hosted a bachelor party in Williamsburg, Va.
On October 20, 2017, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the groom at Benvenue Country Club.
A day of the wedding ladies breakfast was
hosted by the family of the bride at their home.
A day of the wedding luncheon for the groomsmen and out-of-town guest was hosted by the
family of the groom.
